- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup mashed very ripe bananas (from 2–3 bananas)
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 teaspoons natural unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Beat in eggs one at a time.
- Mix in the dry ingredients, then add mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla.
- Melt chocolate, stir in cocoa powder, then combine with one cup of the batter.
- Alternate spooning the plain and chocolate batters into the loaf pan. Swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 70 minutes. Cool before serving.
Notes
For the best marble effect, do not overmix when swirling the batters. Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness and moisture.
