  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups chopped green cabbage
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon flour (optional, for thickening)

Cooking Instructions

  • In a large pot, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in cabbage, ham, and potatoes. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Sprinkle in flour (if using) and stir well to coat.
  • Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 15–20 minutes, until potatoes and cabbage are tender.
  • Stir in heavy cream, milk, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring gently.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
