- 1 lb ground beef browned and drained
- 1 cup garlic-tomato pasta sauce or marinara
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls separated
- 1.5 cups shredded Italian cheese blend mozzarella/provolone blend
- 0.25 teaspoon dried basil optional
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoon melted butter optional
- 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese optional
Preheat oven to 375 °F (190 °C).
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
Stir in the pasta sauce and heat until warmed through; season with salt, pepper, and dried basil.
Arrange the crescent roll dough triangles in the bottom of a greased 9-inch pie plate or 2-quart casserole dish, forming a crust.
Sprinkle about 1 cup of the Italian cheese blend evenly over the dough.
Spoon the meat and sauce mixture evenly over the layered cheese.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the meat layer.
Fold the tips of the crescent dough toward the center if using a pie plate, or cover fully in a casserole.
If using, brush melted butter over the crescent dough and sprinkle with Parmesan.
Bake for 15–25 minutes, until the crescent crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
