Bread and Spread
- 8 slices sturdy sandwich bread (such as white or sourdough)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
Filling
- 1 ½–2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup pizza sauce or marinara
- 6–8 oz pepperoni slices (or your favorite pizza toppings)
- Optional: fresh basil or oregano for garnish
- Optional: extra cheese or toppings like mushrooms, bell peppers, olives
Cooking Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix until smooth.
Spread the garlic-butter mixture on one side of each bread slice.
Place one buttered slice, butter-side down, in a heated skillet over medium heat.
Spread pizza sauce on the bread in the skillet, then layer with shredded mozzarella and pepperoni (or your chosen toppings).
Top with more cheese if desired and then cover with a second slice of bread, butter-side up.
Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt. Cook 3–5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until it’s golden and the cheese is fully melted.
Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
